Shelby Marshall earned a BS in Biology from Cornell University, concentrating in ecology and evolution, and an MAT-Museum Education from George Washington University. He spent several years designing nature education programs, running a nature camp, and working as an environmental activist, and served on the board of the Connecticut Outdoor and Environmental Education Association. He then worked at Houghton Mifflin as a science textbook editor and educational software project manager. Since 2005 he has worked at FableVision, an educational media developer in Boston, where he works with clients to plan projects. Shelby and his wife, Karen, fell in love with Stockbridge as children, and after decades of visiting, moved to Stockbridge in 2011. They now live in heaven.
