Essay topic:

Submit your 900 word maximum essay on the following: “What do you think are the biggest challenges to our environment? If you were in charge, how would you meet these challenges.”

Eligibility:

All Berkshire Hills Regional School students in the 8th,9th,10th grades. Waldorf, BCD, and homeschoolers too!

Prizes:

First prize: $250, honorable mention: $100, publication in the Berkshire Eagle and Stockbridge Updates. Both winners will also receive an award-winning relevant book (to be determined).

Submission Deadline:

June 30, 2024
Winning essays will be read at the annual “Laurel Hill Day” in Stockbridge, August 24, 2024

Topic suggestions:

Rising seas, forest fires, extinction of animal species, air and water pollution, environmental injustice, overcrowding … or any problem local or global that concerns you.
