The Byron Preserve is an open meadow and wooded parcel west of the center of Stockbridge, a short distance north of the Norman Rockwell Museum. It provides good access from Route 183 to the Association’s Four Corners property. This is one of the Association’s newest acquisitions. It was gifted to the Association for $1 in a deed from Joan G. Byron filed June 3, 2014.
Location. On Route 183 (Glendale Road), a short distance north of the Norman Rockwell Museum. Bounded on the west by Route 183 and on the east by the Association’s Four Corners property. To the north and south are privately-owned lands.
Directions. Starting at the Red Lion Inn, head west on Main Street/Route 102, and stay on Route 102 (it turns right just past the town cemetery). Go a total of about 2 miles to Route 183 (blinking light). Turn left/south onto Route 183. Go about half a mile south toward Glendale. The parcel is the open meadow on the left/east.
Conservation Restriction. The property was conveyed subject to a Conservation Restriction granted to the Stockbridge Land Trust, filed on the same date as the deed, June 3, 2014.
