Shamrock Woods is a completely wooded parcel in the center of Stockbridge, a short distance north of Main Street as the crow flies.
The property was gifted to the Association in a deed from Mary V. Flynn filed November 6, 1989. These two acres are across the street from Mary’s house, and she wanted to ensure she would look out onto woods forever.
Mary was the first woman president of the Association. She served two terms: 1974-1977 and 1996-1998. She was also the first woman on the Town Select board, and a recognized force in local and national Democratic politics.
Restricitions. Mary donated these two acres across the street from her house with a deed covenant that the Association “…will permanently preserve and maintain the granted premises in its natural wilderness state.” Mary did not like to cut trees.

Shamrock Woods is on Shamrock Street, mid-way between Pine and Vine streets, across from/south of 7 Shamrock (Mary Flynn’s house). It is bounded on the west, south and east by privately-owned lands.
Starting at the Red Lion Inn, head north on Pine Street. At the base of the hill, turn right/east onto Shamrock Street. Proceed to the wooded parcel on the right.
